G O O D I E S

Here is a look at some items you will see at the Dunwoody festival.  I will have oodles of scarves, even more bright summery colors in the batch I am bringing.  I love the look, feel, excitement of Splash festivals- if you haven't had a chance to come out to one.  Dunwoody will be a blast, the next one I plan to do is in the Fall- Norcross.  Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!

Do you ever fall in love with something?

I have been making necklaces these past evenings as well as the most of today, and as I arrange these finished strands back and forth, up and down, I am enthralled by the beauty of the beads.  Most of these necklaces are to be shipped off this Monday to stores, however, I am feeling a longing for them.  This doesn't often happen, I have trained myself to let go.  Which was not easy, as a young art student I would save everything even that not worth saving.  So now I am faced with those similar feelings of not wanting to let go.  So I will take gobs of pictures and hope to make a new batch in the future that I am just as fond of.

Instead of digging in the dirt

T H E    G O C C O    P R O C E S S

It is hard not to put my fingers in the dirt when the weather is this nice.  However, I know that there is probably a cold night up ahead.  I love to garden, and we have a pretty healthy Winter garden right now.  Yummy with the remains of broccoli and lots of leafy Kale and Lacinto Kale.  However, we have big plans for our Spring/Summer garden and I cannot wait to get started.  Which leads me to drawing flowers, sprouts, seedlings, growth, anything that brings me the giddiness that Spring does.  These are two new cards for Spring - below is the process of how they are created. From drawing to the printing, and now the waiting to package them up.

Trying something new

I love Gocco printing.  I mentioned it a lot in these posts, I can go overboard about how enjoyable I think it is.  One of the things that marvels me is that it is an at-home silk screening device that you can do almost anywhere, small spaces included.  I have had a good day, of course trying moments too, but I am always happy when working on a project.  There is always a period of adjustment when learning something new.  The coasters will be sold in packages of 8 for $10.  I am loving my coaster- it seems my tea has needed just this for some time now.  I can't wait to see what else we be brewing over here.

What have I been up to?

It is amazing to me how time can fly like it does, I can't believe we are toward the end of January.  I am enjoying 2013 so much, it has been such a treat to end the year with amazing stores and customers and to start off 2013 with that same enthusiasm.  I have been very busy trying to restock the stores, gearing up to re-launch Platypusfile on etsy and create some new items.  I wanted to share with you the start of some of the new necklaces Platypusfile will be carrying.  These will be called Fly Away with Me.

Did you know I love color?

I am relatively obsessed with color.  I say relatively because it is not an obsession I actively think about, rather one that is always there, whispering in the back of my mind, driving my creative actions.  I, like many others, am very very fond of Pinterest.  This is from my Color me Wonderful section, and I can't get enough of it.

lost in piles of fabric

I have been wondering where I have been.  It seems that it has been a long time since I had a voice here, I think it is due to being buried under work.  Which, as always, I am grateful for.  I love my work, and I am always counting my lucky stars for that, but it doesn't allow for much of other communications.  Unless you are almost 6 and your name is Walter.  I have plans on posting more photos - I really do love pictures.  I live in a sea of pictures, patterns and textures.  I hope 2013 allows me to share those more with you.  I hope you are all having having holidays, peaceful moments with friends and family.  I love this time of year.  Cheers!

Ready to wear!

My fantastic friend and comrade has just finished silk screening a big batch of shirts for me.  They are amazing - the line is fine and delicate -just how I hoped it would be.  The shirts are in many colors, ranging from gray to eggplant, different styles too.  It has been hard deciding which one to pick for myself.  I can't wait to see them on folks.  Thanks to everyone for keeping their lives handmade!

Pillows, Pillows, Pillows

Some weekends I get to draw, or work on jewelry projects, but this weekend it is pure pillow bliss.  Cut, pin, sew, stuff, button!  It is excited watching all these critters come to life, I am hoping a new animal critter emerges out of the studio this weekend as well!  Have a great weekend, no matter what you are doing.

I think it's the heat

I hate to complain about how hot it is, it's not a pet peeve of mine, but I think it seems silly to complain in general.  However, it's so darn hot!  This morning I realized I have been trying to avoid stuffing pillows.  I wasn't sure why I was avoiding them, and then through the murmur of two fans the light bulb went on in my brain, I haven't wanted any extra cloth or other particles touching my skin.  Yes, we have air conditioning, but it is still warm.  I am sure like most folks one starts to dream about upcoming Fall days, the friskiness in the air, outside time that doesn't involve strange sweat drips all over.  So, for the past hour I have been cleaning the studio.  Very helpful but now once I publish this post, it's time to stuff.  The Procrastination must end! oh - and taking pics is also a good way to continue to avoid stuffing pillows!
